Listen now | The Chasing Nature podcast debuts with my short essay titled "Butterflies and Terror" and an interview about listing the Monarch as threatened under the U.S. Endangered Species Act.
Congrats on the podcast! Excited to give it a listen. I feel like the Endangered Species Act itself may also be another species to put into the "threatened" category these days...
Thanks, Will. Oh, yeah -- the fate of the ESA will no doubt become an issue during the next four years. It probably will indeed go into the "threatened" category, joining the threats to nature in general (and to human intelligence in government, for that matter).
This was so informative, realistic, and sad. I have to tell myself daily that there are fantastic humans out there (like the Irwin family...rest in peace Steve) that actually want to save our world and all of mother nature's children.
Im hopeful that more of these colorful specimens will be visiting my pollinator garden this year. Each summer, I've been blessed with Monarchs, swallow tails, skippers and painted ladies.
Your pollinator garden is a haven for beautiful butterflies! It's wonderful that you've been able to attract such a variety of species, including Monarchs, swallowtails, skippers, and painted ladies.
With a little luck and the right conditions, you might attract even more colorful visitors this year! Have you considered adding any new plants or features to your garden to entice even more pollinators?
Thanks for the podcast! Very informative and interesting. Now, where do those New England monarchs actually go…Never thought about that! I assumed they went to Mexico too!

Endangered marvels.
Fauna, flora, planet Earth.
Will we do our part?
So grateful for your Butterflies and Terror essay, Bryan.
Thank you.
