Thank you for helping us see red, Bryan. Heather has had some red maple flowers and buds on the counter here for a few days, marveling and puzzling over the details, loupe in hand. And I've been noticing the red coloring inside sprouting acorns. The male cardinal calling eagerly around the house qualifies too, I reckon.

Congrats on the milestones in subscribers! That's a wonderful response to excellent work. People are hungry for your triple-threat skillset: field biologist, writer, photographer.

Lovely pictures.

The beauty of a Maple tree, tiny red flowers reflecting off still waters of a sunlit lake. A Ruby- crowned Kinglet perched on its branch, singing happily, enjoying the day .

I was unable to get a good photograph, but Merlin confirmed it was there.

One more~ Here in Vermont , vernal is a state of mind.

Happy Earth Day!

May I refer you to Heather Cox Richardson for her post on Earth Day, the history to the present.

Thanks for these pictures.

I live in the White Mountains of NH and it will be weeks before I see most of these creatures and plants.

However, the red maple canopy turns more vivid each day giving me hope that your other specimens will be here soon in all their red glory.

Love this celebration in vermillion. The Ruby-crowned kinglet is a favorite bird of mine. I'll never forget the first time I caught that flash of red on its crown.

The Kinglet! What an outrageous joy! Biggest congrats on another milestone, Bryan, so well deserved. I don't know if I count as a nature writer, but if I do, an online meet sounds wonderful.
